About the climb
On the morning of September 11, 2001, firefighters, police officers, and paramedics climbed into the towers of the World Trade Center — 110 stories, 2,200 steps — while everyone else was coming down. Steps of Service asks our community to climb them too.
From September 1 through September 11, 2026, participants take on the 2,200-step challenge however it fits their day: a stairwell at work, the bleachers at a ball field, a treadmill, or a few flights at a time. On the morning of Friday, September 11, we finish together at the Pleasant Grove football field with a ceremonial community stair climb, a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., and the reveal of what we raised.
Where your steps go
Every dollar raised supports RRCU Gives and the ArkLaTex 100 Club. The ArkLaTex 100 Club provides financial relief within 72 hours to the surviving dependents of law enforcement officers and firefighters who die in the line of duty in Bowie and Miller Counties, and funds unbudgeted but necessary life-saving equipment and training for local departments through its annual grant program.
Who can take part
Everyone — first responders, their families, club members, sponsors, and anyone in the community who wants to say thank you. Climbers of every pace are welcome, and you can take the steps at whatever speed and over as many days as you need. Every step counts. Every dollar helps.
