To all concerned on behalf of the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department.

The impact of what the ArkLaTex 100 Club has meant to our agency alone can not be overstated. Dr. Ed and Gail Eichler’s mission to honor the memory of their son, Clay, through the ArkLaTex 100 Club has been nothing less than a Godsent blessing for all first responders in our region.

In my experience, I have never heard of them not finding a way to fund an equipment need for anyone, including our department on numerous occasions. Through the years the 100 club has funded things such as radio headsets and ballistic vests for our SWAT team, and a contribution that was used to help fund some of the expense of building a training facility at our South State Line Firearms Training complex.

These are things that we enjoy the ArkLatex 100 Club doing, but more importantly, they are there for our families when tragedy strikes. I remember in 2017, the ArkLaTex 100 Club was new to the Texarkana area when Lt. Patrick Weatherford of the Newport, Arkansas police department was shot and killed during a foot pursuit. Lt. Weatherford left behind his wife Kristen, a 21 year old daughter, and 7 year old son. Newport, Arkansas is 3 ½ hours from Texarkana but when the ArkLaTex 100 Club heard the news they were determined to help Lt. Weatherford’s family in their time of need. We immediately hand delivered a check to Lt. Weatherford’s family. Lt. Patrick Weatherford is memorialized in the FBI National Academy “Hall of Honor”, as he had previously graduated with the 263rd Session.

I can’t speak highly enough about the mission of the ArkLatex 100 Club, their steadfast commitment to first responders in our region and their support of our public safety mission. I too am a member.

Bobby Jordan

Asst. Chief of Police
